Balcerowicz is far from erecting a body of logically connected statements the reader could use to better understand economic reality. On the other hand, the book could have been an exercise in historical understandinging based on implicit, robust economic theory. We do not find this either, but a mix of clichés, quack medicine, ambiguous statements, contradictions, declarations of adherence to some or other school of thought or simply nonsense. We are faced with an edifice made of cardboard ready to fall at first touch, that cannot lead to anything but a phantomatic libertarianism. After reading, the lasting thought is that Balcerowicz is not an economist, but an economic quack.
